I’m a huge fan of R.S. Grey’s work. I’ve been following the author for awhile now on Instagram and have just recently read a couple of her books. I’m already in love and I want to read ALL the rest. Including Arrogant Devil, she has 14 books out, hoorah! Anyways, I received Arrogant Devil as an ARC (Advanced Reader’s Copy) in exchange for an honest review. Arrogant Devil is released May 10th, 2018!
{Synopsis from Goodreads}
Everyone in Cedar Creek, Texas, knows Jack McNight is an arrogant devil. Physically, I get it: he’s tan and fit, with coal-black hair that’s clearly been scorched by hellfire. Oh, and his personality? It burns just as hot.
When I show up on the doorstep of Blue Stone Ranch, I’m run-down and rockin’ my last pair of underwear. I’m hoping for a savior, but instead, I find him.
My opinion of Jack is marred by a dismal first impression, but his opinion of me is tainted even before I arrive. He’s heard I’m a spoiled princess there to take advantage of his goodwill. To him, I’m more trouble than I’m worth.
Our button-pushing banter should get under my skin. His arrogance should be a major turn-off. Problem is, devils are known to offer their own form of temptation.
Every one of his steely glares sends a shiver down my spine.
Every steamy encounter leaves me reeling.
Sure, it could be the Texas heat messing with my head, but there’s no way I’ll survive the summer without silencing him with a kiss and wrestling him out of those Wranglers.
Who knows…going to bed with the devil might just be the salvation I’ve been looking for all along.
First Impression
Firstly I was excited because I’ve read three other books by R.S. Grey so I kind of knew what I was getting into beforehand. R.S. Grey doesn’t play around, she has the two main characters, Meredith and Jack, meet right away. I much prefer this, especially for a romance novel! I like that I’m not waiting four or five chapters in for that first meetup.
Also, Jack has a dog that is somewhat of a focal point to the story and I am alllll about that.
Also, Jack’s grandmother is awesome – hilarious side character and a worthy mention.
Main Characters
The story is told from both Meredith and Jack’s point of view!
Meredith – I really liked her character. She was funny and spunky. I liked Meredith’s emotional recovery throughout the story and though it wasn’t super in depth and more on the light- hearted side of things it was still heartwarming to read.
Jack- Pretty rough around the edges, but like all fierce lions, they can be tamed. I liked Jack and how much he scowled at Meredith. Also, Jack was always supposed to be ‘hard at work’ yet he was around to give Meredith attitude.
The Romance
Hold your shorts kids. The characters may meet right away but that doesn’t mean they get along, haha! Prepare yourself for more of a slow burn with some quick bursts of spark throughout it. But seriously, it’s so worth it. I wanted to keep reading and reading and reading because I couldn’t get enough! To the squeamish – there are a few R- rated scenes and if you’re not into reading that, well, then…you’re going to miss out!! Also, I think Grey writes those kind of scenes really well for those that don’t mind erotica so you should be left feeling pretty satisfied!

Recommend?
If you love a good romance with humor (I lol’d way too much) and a bit of R- rated content then this is for you! It was a really fun read and I enjoyed the story and the characters. I’m pretty sure if you pick this one up and like it you’ll want to read the rest of R.S. Grey’s work too!! And I’m not sorry about that, join the fan club!
